Banca del Fare Workshop
During the week of activities, ten participants handcrafted a pinhole camera—a container, in various shapes and materials, repurposing previous uses, consisting of a darkroom and a small hole through which light enters and strikes the photographic film. This created pinhole images, photographs taken without the use of lenses, visually connecting the subject of observation with the surrounding environment, using the photographer's manual skills.
This interrelationship also explored the local area through a session of observation and posing with the photographic instrument, which involved the church of San Lorenzo in Murialdo, the chapel of Sant’Anastasia in Sale San Giovanni, the oratory of San Sebastiano in Paroldo, and the church of San Luigi Re di Francia in Castelletto Uzzone. The initial study phase was followed by development and printing in the darkroom set up in the Cascina Crocetta spaces. The analog prints were displayed at the Bormida Gotica photography exhibition held in Castelletto Uzzone (Church of San Luigi Re di Francia, October 15-31, 2023), accompanied by the everyday objects that were converted into pinhole cameras and the manifesto of the artistic practice (composed by the workshop participants).
